Glues, Fillers, and Finishers

  1. 5-min epoxy (the cheap double-syringe stuff)
  2. Elmer's Fill-N-Finish wood filler (aka FnF)
  3. model body putty, or other material suitable for thick fillets
  4. black and silver spray paint
  5. star-and-bar decal (about 1/2")
  6. "USAF" white lettering, about 1/4" high
  7. black, silver, and clear dull spray paints
Use five minute epoxy for all construction here. It has good gap-filling properties and strength comparable to the other materials used. It also greatly simplifies the paper wraps, since it minimizes paper warping and sets quickly enough that parts can be held in place by hand (consider using gloves for these steps). After each operation below, allow the glue to set thoroughly. "Go on to the next step while waiting for glue to set" can be assumed to apply to most of the instructions but don't get more than one step ahead. Use 150 grit sandpaper for shaping operations, and 400 grit for finishing.
