Shop 'til you drop (carrier, that is)

It's hard to evaluate the price of Web Presence when you have to purchase Internet Connectivity from that provider, as well. Don't sweat it. Get yourself a copy of the Netscape Navigator, or the Microsoft Internet Explorer, or the MCI Internet Navigator ... spend $30 dollars on a book, if you feel you need it, and construct your own page(s) as local files on your personal computer.

Get things just the way you like them, then Zip them (or pkarc them, or tar them, or Stuff them, or Compact them -- well, you get the idea) onto a 3.5" disk, then mail it, along with a check for the appropriate multiple of $10/month to

if you've got Internet connectivity with a provider whose prices (or philosophies) you just can't get along with, just put the .tar file in your public_html directory and email the URL to goldinc@goldinc.com. We'll take things from there.

Oh, and don't forget to mail your check.

If creating your Web page proves too much, just send the info and we'll construct the page for you. The fee is negotiable, but we won't be under-sold by anyone.

You are quite right to say that one shouldn't have to pay more
than $50.00 for the construction of a Web page. That is
precisely what most web pages look like "constructed"
with about as much finess and style. i.e. none.

Don't you think that it is just about time that web pages be properly designed as are pages in print? If graphic designers would get a little more involved in the Web, this medium of communication will redeem itself from the low level of design value that it has to offer. And as a designer I know what care and time it takes to produce proper design and that requires a whole lot more than $50.00 per page. In fact design charges are based on the total concept of a site and not on a per page rate.

Make sure that when you make statements such as the one on the previous page that you qualify to your readers by saying that the service that you are offering has no added value to their image and that for good marketing they will have to pay designer rates.

You misunderstand. I was referring to Web Space rental. Suppose you prepare a carefully designed page and want to have it served up. How much are you prepared to pay for that service? How about $30 per month for 5 Megabytes? Too little? Too bad.
