If you were wondering why we waited until the absolute last possible day of the month to put out our monthly newsletter, you may want to check out some comments from our users.
The president of Gulfcoast On-Line usually writes GOLD Ink. We've been keeping him very busy, so we're publishing without him this month. His newsletters tend to be a bit more technical (hey, he *is* known as "the Internet guy") so look for his return with the techno-babble in March!
Some of the latest news. . .
Our prices shattered the price barrier of Coastal ISPs when we first opened and even contributed (we think!) to a competitor lowering their price by over 40%. Our goal is to provide affordable and efficient Internet access to anyone on the Mississippi Coast who wants it. That is the absolute bottom line.
As for busy signals, no one wants to hear the annoying "beep beep beep" when calling on a telephone or trying to connect to an ISP. As more and more people join with us in exploring the 'Net, we are activating additional telephone lines and modems. In fact, more phone lines were added this week. Our users who have gotten an occassional busy signal say that when they try again five minutes later, they get right in. Busy signals with Gulfcoast On-Line don't happen often but in the real world - it happens! We will continue to keep a maximum 8:1 user-to-modem ratio to keep the Internet accessible to our subscribers. (Other ISPs may have a ratio of 15:1 or higher!)
Our connection to the Internet is the fastest on the Mississippi Gulfcoast. People do not realize how they were missing out on until they sign up with Gulfcoast On-Line! Our modem pool is made up of only 28.8K and 33.3K (V.34) modems so you will always get the fastest possible connection.
Also, we will soon be accepting credit card payments for access. Of course, we will continue to accept cash, checks and money orders! We just want our users to have flexibility and convenience.
We're here when you're ready!
