High Adventure Troop we do it
Bashing a Hole on the Arkansas River
in the Udisco...who was captain on this?
in fact, we are a boy scout troop, but unique from many others.
interest and expertise is in the outdoors, with advanced outdoor skills
taught in addition to standard BSA lore.
We enjoy rafting,
climbing, skiing, caving, mountaineering, ski mountaineering, backpacking
and anything else related to high adventure fun.
For our high
adventures, unlike many other groups, we learn the skills and run
all of our technical trips by ourselves as opposed to hiring out through
commercial outfitters. We run our own
white water raft trips captaining our own boats, our own climbing and mountaineering
trips, even in the winter. When we need experts to help us, we find
we not only teach our members how to participate in high adventure activities
in the outdoors, but how to re-teach those same skills to others, and how
to run trips on their own. We have even taken other Troops with us
on some of our adventures. Some of our older members are so technically
trained in our phases of outdoor recreation that they are learning to be
professional guides for local recreational outfitters.
