Dirk Dedeaux was born in Picayune, MS and was reared on his family's dairy farm in the Sellers community in north Hancock County. He graduated from Temple Christian Academy in Gulfport.

In 1994 he graduated from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern Languages. As a sophomore at MC Dirk studied Russian for ten months as an exchange student in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, in former Soviet Central Asia.

In 1993 he worked as a Congressional Intern in Washington D.C. in the office of Congressman Gene Taylor. After college he returned home and took a job with Appliance Parts Company in Gulfport.

Currently, he owns and manages rental properties. In 1995, at the age of 23, he was elected to become the State Representative from District 93. He was reelected to three consecutive terms and is currently serving in his sixteenth year.

Presently Dirk serves on seven committees including the Medicaid Committee, which he chairs. He also serves on the following committees: Appropriations, Conservation & Water Resources, Public Health & Human Services, Poverty, The Joint Legislative Committee on Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review (PEER) and Oil Gas & Other Minerals.

Dirk is married to the former Robin Freret of Saucier and they are members of Steep Hollow Baptist Church in Pearl River County. Dirk and Robin have three children, Kadence Denise (age 7), Landon Carter (age 6), Wyatt Charles (age 1) and Avery Elizabeth (newborn).
